We are looking for a driven System Engineer (Surface Drilling) to join our Machine Controls team

At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, we deliver pioneering products and solutions to our global customers within the mining and construction segment. Part of our exciting business is the Surface Drilling Division, where our intelligent surface drill rigs bring the latest technology to surface mining and construction applications – we’d like to call it true power with absolute precision!

Our Machine Controls team creates and develops onboard control system solutions and off board software for our customers. Team provides professional services in areas of software specification, system design, software implementation and software testing for Surface Drilling division products. Team is involved in new product projects and responsible for lifecycle maintenance of current products.

We are strengthening and developing our Machine Controls team and are now looking for a proactive and future oriented Systems Engineer for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. We’re ready to invest in you and your professional development. So, are you in for a super exciting digital journey?

In this role, you coordinate our DPi machine family control system development and maintenance work. You create specifications for new implementations and update existing when needed. You collect feature requests and support sales and aftermarket organization in technical questions. You will work with external and internal software developers and testers. Your responsibilities will include:

– Specify new and maintain existing features
– Collect and manage needs from customers and internal stakeholders
– Act as a first contact point for Dpi control system in R&D
– Coordinate software release work with development team.

We expect you to have experience in some of the following areas: embedded systems, product development or software development. You have general understanding on software control systems and electric/hydraulic systems or you have a genuine interest to accommodate the skills and competence fast. Experience in coordinating software development work and creating specifications for the features is a big plus. You have a suitable degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) in computer science, electronics, automation or equivalent. As a person you are a self-directed team player with good co-operation, negotiation, and language skills (both in Finnish and in English).
