European Finance Director (International Group)

We are looking for a European Finance Director (International Group) to join our team in Sweden.

Willing to take charge of our financial management of the Nordic companies? Are you ready to take responsibility for efficient and accurate accounting functions for all of the International entities in Europe (non-UK)? Read further!

– Day-to-day financial management of the Nordic companies (4) ensuring accurate and timely preparation of management and financial accounts. This includes preparation of annual accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, month end reporting,
balance sheet analysis and investigations, preparation of income tax and VAT reporting.
– Preparation of the monthly payroll for all Nordic region including updating pension and insurance details with the external providers.
– Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting functions for all of the International entities in Europe (non-UK) including accounting operations, cash flow management, month-end close, reconciliations and analysis as needed.
– Work with outside providers to timely file statutory accounts, tax returns, consolidation for international entities and account for statutory to US GAAP differences in our financial systems.
– Manage local VAT returns and maintenance.
– Assist with purchase accounting and integration processes for acquisitions in the international regions.
– Implement operational and systems projects as they relate to accounting.
– Partner with finance function on business analysis, cash flow forecasting and budget/forecast to actual analysis.
– Work closely with Tax and Legal team to rationalize the legal entity structure to be more efficient and cohesive.
– Support and manage team of experienced accountants across Europe.
– Manage treasury management and banking and merchant account relationships.
– Provide expertise on client contracts including establishing indirect tax implications, financial flows and establishing reconciliation.

– Be a strong team leader, with a proven track record of building high-performance accounting teams and driving accountability for achieving measurable shareholder value. 
– Drive a service driven culture across all teams that are in line with company strategies and goals.
– Lead by example and establish a track record as a reliable, “go to” performer.
– Develop strong business partnerships and credibility with colleagues and the industry.
– Proactively offer new ideas and build support for making significant change. Ask questions and listen to gain input and insight. Foster an open exchange of ideas.
– Communicate clearly and concisely. Resolve differences/conflict in a constructive manner.
– Plan ahead and anticipate, as well as look at downstream and cross-functional implications. Balance short and long-range considerations when solving problems.
– Partner with direct reports and engage with other staff/peers to foster exceptional and productive internal and external relationships.

– 10 plus years of total experience ideally with some experience working with a US based company.
– Chartered Accountant or equivalent preferred.
– Nordic GAAP and statutory accounting experience required, knowledge of other European/US GAAP would be of benefit.
– Fluent in Swedish and English, knowledge of other Scandinavian languages, French or German would be of benefit.
–  Knowledge of Nordic payroll accounting and local laws and regulations.
– Experience with acquisition purchase price allocation and integration of acquisitions.
– Experience implementing systems and improving processes.
– Ability to analyze data, prepare reports and effectively communicate these to senior leadership and other department leads.
– Able to work and thrive in a fast paced and demanding environment.
– Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills, with high attention to detail.
– Ability to focus under pressure.
– Must be proactive with long track record of taking initiative.
– Resourceful, action-orientated with the ability to get things done and overcome obstacles.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
